Hi
this may sound a silly question but can I use an AT&T pay as you go sim card ($25+)from you in my uk nokia 6021 triband cellphone..it is unlocked by the way.
Thanks
Colin
A:
Colin your Nokia 6021 is a tri-band world phone per GSM Arena and has the GSM bands 900MHZ/1800MHZ/1900MHZ. In the USA AT&T uses GSM bands 850 and 1900. AT&T uses both bands all across the country. This means that you could be driving and talking in Washington DC and experience more dropped calls because your phone only sees 1900MHZ towers while the AT&T tower is handing your call of to an 850MHZ tower.
So – to put this all together – Your Nokia 6021 will work, but depending on where you are in the states, you might experience spotty coverage. The best experience will be had with a quad band GSM phone, or one that has at least the 850MHZ/1900MHZ bands.
Cheers
